How do you install a shower
There is no shower and l wanna build the enclosure and have a tiled shower
from scratch.
Your main problem will be plumbing. I suggest you hire a
licensed plumber to install the plumbing. Bringing new plumbing to any
part of the house isnt easy.
You will need to install the Durarock for ur walls. Also, the floor will
need to be in a slight slant, so the water will drain properly. As far as
the enclosure, we had ours installed in a corner of the bathroom, & our contractor installed a glass block wall for the third wall. Then we had to have the shower door custom made. The whole project cost us about 2,000 bucks. The end result was awesome. I highly suggest you find a contractor, at least for the difficult parts, like plumbing & building the frame. You can finish the details like tiling & installing the fixtures. Good luck
If you feel you are able to take on a project like that-good,
but if you dont have confidence in yourself then you should hire a
contractor. If you have nothing & you are starting from scratch you need
to draw up what you want to do. Then you need to build ur frame or make
the enclosure. You can figure out where you want ur walls. You need to
remember in ur measurements that you will have 1/2 inch of durarock &
approx. 1/2 inch of tile. Once you get all of that figured out you need to start building ur walls. Mark on the floor whare they go. you will need to fasten them to the floor somehow. I suggest maybe a two part epoxy that you can buy at home depot & it comes in a caulk tube. ur bottem board is anchored to the floor(epoxy). Then you build ur walls, & anchor it to the ceiling. you can screw into the rafters in the ceiling. make sure everything is square, you can do this by measuring from corner to corner of each wall. You will need to locate where you are going to tie into ur water supply to ur house once you figure that out you need to figure out how much pipe you need & what adapters you will need. then you run ur pipe to where you want ur shower. If there is already a bath you just need to run pipe from the bath connections to where you want. Once everything is square, you need to hang durarock on the inside shower side & drywall on the outside. they both come in 4 foot by 8 foot pieces. Once you hang them you need to finish the drywall. you will need some skill to do this correctly the first time. Your durarock is ready for tile. & after finishing ur drywall is ready for paint. Then you have the little things to do like install faucets & grout ur tile. If you need any help email my name. hope this was helpful.
1.Research what are you getting ur self in. It could be a fun
project or a disaster.
2.If you decided to proceed:
a.Get a how to book.
b.Check where is the nearest soil stack. If not a straight forward hook
up you may hire a professional
c.Figure out how to bring the hot & cold water in & you may need a professional. d.Prepare the space like in removing the sheetrock assuming it is a ‘stick’ construction. 3.The easiest way is to put a prefab enclosure, but if you want to tile… then: Consult the do-it your-self book I hope you got earlier as it would require a lot of skill. Have fun.
Hire a general contractor. That will be the easiest unless you
are very construction oriented.
First you run some pipe. Plaster the wall, add tiles and
grout. then attach a head and take a shower.
note: make sure u turn the water off from the mains in ur
house.
