Can shower door hardware be refinished

l purchased new oil rubbed bronze fixtures for my bathroom. The problem is

that the shower/bath enclosure doors have very ugly, shiny brass hardware

(sliding door track, frame, handles, etc). l swear l once saw a home

improvement show where they just painted the hardware (spray paint) to

update the look. However, when l ask at home improvement places, they tell

me that would not work. I'd rather invest $20 in paint and apply some elbow

I have sprayed plastic, wood, and metal to match finishes I

already had. There is a slogan out there that goes, ''If it doesn't move,

paint it!'' Of course you can paint the hardware! Make sure you buy a can

of spray that goes on metal, mask off the other parts of the door, and

spray. Even if it only lasts a year, cheap! Just respray.

unfortunately, you are going to have to purchase a new door if

only way the finish would ever stick, paint will absolutely not work)

would be more than a new door. there is no option in the $20 range, other

than completely removing the door & getting a rod/curtain to replace it  
(if you have tub shower - if its a separate shower, this is not an option)  
& that will still be more than $20, since a decent curtain & liner will  
cost more than that, let alone a new oil rubbed bronze finish rod &

I have never heard of such a thing. I wouldn't recommend it.
